Call for Entries: “Around and About Diablo”

PROSPECTUS

The focus of this show is the artist's view and interpretation of the beauty of Mount Diablo and the vibrancy of the communities surrounding it. Subjects can range from impressions of the iconic mountain and its foothills to street scenes and public spaces in neighboring towns. It is a diverse area, one that includes a sleepy delta shoreline, rural orchards and scenic back roads as well as major freeways and bustling downtown districts. The long shadow of Devil Mountain offers a wealth of choices for artistic inspiration.

CATEGORIES ACCEPTED

Only two-dimensional mediums will be accepted: painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, collage, mixed media. Original recent work only. No reproductions.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: Tuesday, April 9, 2019

ELIGIBILITY: Artists residing in the San Francisco Bay Area

ARTWORK SPECIFICATIONS

Maximum size is 48 inches x 48 inches. Minimum is 6 inches x 6 inches.

Submitted works are to be inspired by Mount Diablo and the immediately surrounding Diablo Valley region, to have been completed within the last 24 months, and not previously shown at Valley Art Gallery.

ARTWORK PRESENTATION

Artwork must arrive "ready to hang" and be professionally presented. No saw tooth hangers. Plexiglas only, unless it is pastel.

ENTRY FEE

For gallery members: $35 for first work, $5 for each additional work up to three works total.

For non-members: $45 for first work, $10 for each additional work up to three works total.

Entry fees are non-refundable.

SUBMISSION FORMAT

Images are to be submitted using ENTRYTHINGY.COM:

Entry fees are payable online with a credit card through PayPal. You do not need a PayPal account to pay by credit card. Entry fees may also be paid by mailing a check to the gallery.

Submit JPG images that are a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side. Maximum file size is 5 MB.

Artwork not accurately represented by the submitted image may be declined.

NOTIFICATION FOR SELECTED ARTISTS

Artists will be notified on April 19, 2019. All artists who have submitted artwork will be notified by email. You will receive notification even if no artwork has been selected. If you do not receive notice by April 19th, please check your email spam folder and contact us if you do not hear from Valley Art Gallery.

DELIVERY OF SELECTED WORKS:

Sunday/Monday May 12 & 13, 2019, 12:00 - 3:00 p.m.

WORK PICK UP:

Sunday/Monday, June 30 and July 1, 2019, 12:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Artists leaving their work after the pickup date will be charged $5 per day, per piece, for storage. Works left beyond 15 days will be considered a donation to Valley Art Gallery.

INSURANCE AND LIABILITY

Artists are responsible for transportation and insurance of accepted work to and from the exhibition. Valley Art Gallery assumes no responsibility for damage or loss while work is in transit. Work will be insured while on display. Insurance value will be 65% of the sales price of the work

SALES

All works must be for sale. Artist will determine the retail (selling) price of each piece. If sold, Valley Art Gallery will receive a 35% commission. All works will remain in the gallery until the end of the show.
